Formal programming
The Rusty Gear 2012 was started as a way to give fans of Metalocalypse and The Venture Brothers an opportunity to explore and discuss the many aspects of these two fandoms, from theories and characterization to music and art. This will be accomplished through our formal programming.
Why formal programming? Our formal programming is more structured. It will take place in sessions during the day. You will be able to choose from a variety of great programs. Who will be giving these presentations? You. Unlike other conventions you may have been to, the programming at The Rusty Gear is built around you. The presenters and workshop leaders are fellow attendees, and the emphasis is on fans coming together.

Informal programming
So, formal programming is the intellectual stuff. Then what is informal programming? That's where we let loose and have some fun. Informal Programming will take place during the evenings, and include things like music, video screenings, games, cosplay, and maybe even a dance party.
Informal programming will also include programs dedicated to fanart and fanfiction, and meetups with fans that share your interests.
